THE GENESIS OF THE ELEMENTAL AGE
Eons ago, in a dimension of time and space known as Terra, the elusive Twilight Dragons made their home. These ethereal entities intertwined with the very fabric of the cosmos and were even rumored to travel between dimensions at will. Meanwhile, in our dimension, an event was about to unfold that would forever alter our future and that of the Twilight Dragons: the Big Bang.
This historic expansion not only birthed our universe but weakened the veil, enabling the elements of fire, earth, air, and water to pass into Terra. These newfound elemental energies engulfed the Twilight Dragons like a tide, severing their cosmic connection and transforming them into something never seen before. These new creatures would be known as Elementals and were physical entities that control and embody the very elements themselves.
Their transformation from cosmic entities to physical beings was both terrifying and abrupt. Their need for a sanctuary was paramount for them to adapt to their new reality. In response, they harnessed their newfound abilities to forge a small elemental core that rapidly expanded, drawing on the energies of the dragons themselves. Elemental forces intertwined, shaping landscapes into a tiny planet that would soon be named "Dragoniah."
Initially, Dragoniah's landmass was modest, yet it sufficed for the dragons survival. The expansion of the core formed a pillar of crystallized elemental energy. It rose straight from the core, pierced through the planet's crust and reached up to the sky. Due to this structure not only being powerful, but also standing as a remembrance of the Dragons unity and resilience in a pivotal moment in their existence, it would be known as “The Nexus”.
EARLY SOCIETY
The uneven glow of the Nexus revealed that Dragoniah's elemental energies were imbalanced. This led to forming The Nexus Council, a group composed of dragons that would be attuned to the Nexus in order to maintain world elemental harmony. Council members soon discovered attunement allowed access to collective knowledge and memories of past dragons stored within the Nexus. This insight led the dragons to establish the Nexus Council as the new governing body of Dragonkind, ensuring decisions about their future would be informed by their unforgotten past.
As the Dragons discovered their elemental affinities, they naturally began to cluster with those of similar powers. Over time, this led to the creation of distinct zones across Dragoniah, each crafted and governed by one of the elemental families. These territories—ranging from fiery landscapes to lush forests, from deep oceans to soaring windscapes—reflected the essence of their creators. The dragons, now custodians of their own realms, thrived in environments that mirrored their intrinsic nature, fostering a diverse yet harmonious world where each elemental domain contributed to the balance of Dragoniah.
THE QUEST FOR ELEMENTAL MASTERY
Despite the chance of possessing multiple elemental affinities, Dragons were unable to develop an affinity that they were not born with. In the recent millennia, some dragons, fueled by an insatiable curiosity, embarked on a journey of experimentation. These dragons delved into occult practices, conducting a myriad of odd experiments, attempting to unlock the ability to learn elemental affinities not given to them at birth.
Using the culmination of their mystical and experimental endeavors, the dragons performed a grand ritual that they thought would unlock the lost affinity of Twilight. It unleashed energies that resonated with the Nexus in ways unforeseen before. However, the unintended consequence was the inadvertent fracturing of the already thin veil between our dimensions.
DESTINY AND BEYOND
In the wake of the fractured veil and the unexpected appearance of mysterious rifts, the dragons of Dragoniah realized they needed a concerted effort to understand the phenomenon. Months of meticulous research, experimentation, and collaboration led to a groundbreaking discovery. They learned how to stabilize the chaotic rifts into functional and safe portals that could be traversed without the risk of further fracturing the dimensional veil.
As news of the stabilized portals spread across Dragoniah, dragons from every walk of life began to express interest in venturing through them. Each dragon had their own unique reasons for wanting to explore the unknown dimension that lay beyond the rifts. Some sought adventure, others sought knowledge, and some dragons yearned for new challenges and experiences. Some believed they could find answers to long-held questions, while others simply felt the call of destiny. Regardless of their motivations, a sense of excitement and anticipation filled the air as more and more dragons joined the ranks of potential explorers. The Nexus Council believed that by understanding the mysteries of this new dimension, they could better safeguard Dragoniah and its future. With their blessing, the dragon explorers prepared to embark on their journey. Discovery, adventure, and new friends awaited them in the realm beyond.
